It’s that time of year! It’s time to make some custom ornaments! 🥰🌲 Today, we will be exploring how to personalize ornaments in 3 different ways using vinyl and acrylic paint! ✨
This project was inspired by my love for lettering, vinyl and the Holiday season!
Supplies:
Silhouette Cameo 4 Cutting Machine, Silhouette Cameo 12" Cutting Mat, Oracal Intermediate Cal Vinyl, Oracal Transfer Tape, Ornaments (Unfinished Wooden Ornaments, Clear Plastic Ornaments + Basswood Ornaments), Princeton Short Handle Wash Brush, Artist Loft Acrylic Paint and Tombow Dual Brush Pen
Yayyy! It’s time to make some DIY ornaments together! 🌲
Step One: Design your artwork for the ornaments. You can create your artwork in a few ways like using a brush pen or a tablet.
Step Two: Send your artwork to the Silhouette Studio to trace and resize your artwork. Then place the vinyl on the cutting mat to start the cutting process.
Ornament Design 1: Add acrylic paint to the inside of the ornament to create a fun swirl and then apply your custom artwork vinyl to the outside of the ornament.
Ornament Design 2: Start layering the vinyls of your artwork and then place the vinyl on the front side of the ornament.
Ornament Design 3: Paint a circle using acrylic paint (color: black) to create a "chalkboard" effect.
Then place your artwork vinyl (color: white) on top of the acrylic paint once it has dried.
Yayy! You are all done! I hope you enjoyed this DIY ornament tutorial! Thank you for taking the time to create and vinyl with me! Remember to have fun when creating these custom ornaments. The possibilities are endless!
